Yes, today was the end of Relay for Life. I'm so proud of everybody that participated in the Relay. The theme was games and there was one group that had Tetris and they actually made real Tetris boxes that looked like the real pieces and actually formed together. (smile) Anyway I had helped put up camp at the track at 9:15am in the morning on Saturday. Yes people, I actually got up that early on a Saturday that didn't require me to work or go to school. I don't even get up that early for classes, probably the reason why I don't have a class no earlier than 11 am to go to next semester. Anyway, back to Relay 4 Life, so camp was set up, of course all people who know about Relay 4 Life, or at least those that participate in Relay 4 Life, know about the opening ceremony and those who are or were the most affected by Cancer get very teary especially when they talk about someone very close to them. So the Relay was on its way when we first cheered the Cancer Survivors this year and all those that went through the trial of having Cancer then, one by one we were called on to the track to give our first lap after the survivors. After that we took turns walking around the track. I made sure my RA actually walked this year because she didn't really do it last year and I think she loves me for it. I got a lot closer to my organizations by giving one of them a massage because they were out of commission for a while and I also gave another RA a massage which I will be looking for so they can give me one because my back is killing me. The day was a lot better than last year's because it was sunny and warm. Last year it rained and we were voted the "Muddiest Relay" (I do not lie to you (smile). I stayed there until 5:30pm this year, unlike last year where I was out there to almost the "witching hour" (midnight), and then came back at 9:30pm to see the lighting ceremony because I had missed it last year. It was beautiful one of my friends had cried because she was representing her mom who was a Ovarian Cancer Survivor and three others in memory because they had died of cancer. I was so proud of her because she was walking for a person who she has the up most respect for and its people like that you can actually see and know that yes, this is a great cause here is your proof if you ever had doubt.
The final Day was today, helped pack up the last little bit that we had and did the last lap as we did last year. I'm so glad that I can do things like this and feel proud that my university as well as others participate in this just the same. Who knows how next year will be the possibilities are endless if you a person with cancer can have such hope, love, friendship, and yes the biggest word of all "faith", then so can I.
